Week 2 - Saturday 13th September
Welcome back to NewsFlash! In this week's edition, you'll find a quick update from all our students' classes - highlighting our progress in each discipline and the start of this term's exciting projects!

Early Stages
Early Stages continued their Toy Box Universe journey with lots of focus and creativity! In Drama, students progressed with Poem 1, recapping earlier lines and learning the rest with attention to projection, clarity and gesture. They also explored their characters through imaginative activities, building expression and confidence. In Singing, the group learnt the chorus of You’ve Got A Friend In Me, concentrating on tone, diction and projection while adding actions to support storytelling. In Dance, they practised gallops, turns and skips in Corner Work, then recapped Woody’s Roundup before moving into the Super Mario section, using a new ‘blocky’ style. It was a lively session that showed clear progress and set the stage for more exciting work next week!
Stage 1
Stage 1 continued their Music Video project with focus and creativity! In Singing, our students warmed up in a round to build timing and expressive confidence, before rehearsing solos with projection and character. They then worked on How Ya Doin’?, learning the chorus and post-chorus with energy and commitment. In Dance, the group refined their leaps and kicks in corner work before completing the same section of choreography with timing and expressive performance. In Drama, Stage 1 explored mime, experimenting with activities such as climbing ladders and battling the wind before creating silent group scenes. They also began shaping narrative ideas for their Music Videos, showing imagination and teamwork. It was a lively session that built on last week’s work and showed clear progress!
Stage 2
Stage 2 made strong progress in their Music Video project this week! In Singing, our students warmed up in a round to sharpen timing and expressive confidence before rehearsing solos with projection and clarity. They continued work on The Lazy Song, practising the next section with humour and character. In Dance, the group improved balance and travelling skills during corner work before learning new choreography, focusing on unison and timing. In Drama, Stage 2 explored physical theatre through “human snapshots,” freezing in bold poses to show emotions such as fear, surprise or excitement. They then developed short freeze-frame sequences that linked directly to their Music Video narratives. It was a creative and collaborative session that moved their project forward with confidence!
Stage 3
Stage 3 threw themselves into their Music Video project with ambition and energy! In Singing, they warmed up in a round to develop timing, harmony and expressive confidence, then rehearsed solos with projection and characterisation. They continued with A Night To Remember, exploring how vocal energy and emotion bring the lyrics to life. In Dance, Stage 3 refined levels, balance and floor work before learning the next section of choreography, combining timing with performance quality. In Drama, the group enjoyed improvisation through “Yes, Let’s!”, acting out scenarios from celebrations to monster chases. They also developed chorus work, reacting together as one ensemble to produce entertaining results. Their Music Video narratives are now beginning to take shape with bold and creative ideas. It was a week that highlighted real progress in both technique and teamwork!
Further Stages
Further Stages continued their Frozen Jr. rehearsals with focus and enthusiasm. After a short ensemble-building activity, roles were confirmed and the group completed a full read-through of the script, highlighting lines as they went. In Singing, they revisited Let It Go, ensuring security with the melody before preparing for harmonies next week. In Dance, the group warmed up with cardio and stretching before continuing Fixer Upper, focusing on sharp contrasting movements and clean timing. It was a productive and positive session that strengthened ensemble spirit while laying strong foundations for the weeks ahead!
