Early Stages

Early Stages continued their Toy Box Universe journey with lots of focus and creativity! In Drama, students progressed with Poem 1, recapping earlier lines and learning the rest with attention to projection, clarity and gesture. They also explored their characters through imaginative activities, building expression and confidence. In Singing, the group learnt the chorus of You’ve Got A Friend In Me, concentrating on tone, diction and projection while adding actions to support storytelling. In Dance, they practised gallops, turns and skips in Corner Work, then recapped Woody’s Roundup before moving into the Super Mario section, using a new ‘blocky’ style. It was a lively session that showed clear progress and set the stage for more exciting work next week!

In Dance, the group refined leaps and kicks in corner work before completing choreography for the same section, focusing on precision and expression. In Drama, Stage 1 experimented with expression linked to character motivations, then began shaping Music Video characters through imaginative activities. It was a lively session where individuality and storytelling really began to shine!

In Singing, they warmed up in a round to strengthen timing and expressive confidence, then rehearsed solos with clarity and projection. They continued with The Lazy Song, tackling the next section with humour and character. In Dance, the group worked on balance and travelling technique during corner work before learning new choreography, emphasising unison and timing. In Drama, students began with facial and body expression warm ups, then explored tonality and how it applies to acting. They also studied examples of music videos and developed lyric-by-lyric ideas for their own project. It was a creative session that showed how their acting choices are now shaping their Music Video!

Stage 3

Stage 3 made confident strides in their Music Video project this week! In Singing, they warmed up in a round to build harmony and expressive confidence, then rehearsed solos with projection and characterisation. They developed A Night To Remember, focusing on how vocal energy and emotion bring the story to life. In Dance, Stage 3 refined levels, balance and floor work before learning the next section of choreography, combining clean timing with expressive performance. In Drama, pairs devised a “first day of school” scene, practising modulation to add depth to their acting. They also recapped their Music Video piece, brainstorming fresh ideas and strengthening ensemble teamwork. It was a dynamic session that showed their ensemble growing stronger each week!
